What kind people date Bankers?

straight-forward question. I was wondering what kind of people date Investment bankers who barely have time? Models, other Bankers, sugar babies, lawyers, gold-diggers etc, and how does the dynamic work with money, since you are most likely to be earning the dough.

Totally normal people from all walks of life, and if you're a junior banker, a lot of the time it will be other people in long-hours professions like junior lawyers, consultants, etc.

Re: the money, unfortunately it's not 2006 where third year Associates are making $1M all cash. These days no one will be impressed or even think of it as a job where the money dynamics in a relationship might be important to think about, especially if you're in a top tier city full of other finance jobs that pay more than IB

Yep to lawyers, consultants, doctors aka the only people who both understand the hours and are able to carry a conversation

You can also waste the best years of some art chick who waits around hoping to marry you and your early 30s total comp but be prepared to face the wrath of that when you break it off

Associate 3s at EBs are still pulling down like $450k+ which is pretty nuts for someone who is 29-33 or whatever.

This basically just isn’t true. Women are probably MORE gold diggerish than I would have guessed. Know of girls in my friend circle who have literally only ever dated bankers/lawyers/doctors/PE guys in spite of being in far lower paying jobs. They’re attractive, they know they are, and they know they can get away with shameless gold digging.

Controversial

25 y/o investment bankers make less money than 25 y/o real estate agents who don't have all their high school credits in my city.

Edit: Chill on the MS, I'm from Toronto and I happen to personally know multiple 23-27 y/olds who are clearing 2-3 Houses per month in Toronto right now at average prices of $1-2MM per home. Idk maybe they're just spoiled with connections? Also not every 25 Y/O Banker in Canada is going to be an A2A at a top bank - are you fucking kidding me? Don't compare the cream of the Canadian Banking Crop to my example? Most bankers are working at boutiques here making $140K all-in as senior analysts on their good years at age 25. The ones in the Big 5 aren't that far ahead either. Not so hard to beat as a real estate douchebag who's parents are rich italians/persians/asians in toronto.

At least in my city, if a real estate agent can clear one home every month, they'll make $200k at the very least, but more likely $360k.

Funny thing is, the real estate market is so hot here right now that it isn't even a stretch to think a 25 year old could clear a home a month.

So it's okay to only talk about the cream of the crop real estate agents but when you compare them to top bankers it's not okay? Average person in IB makes more than average person in RE in Toronto. Doesn't make sense to compare the outliers

Sorry bud, this is incorrect. Unless you're talking bottom of the barrel (a la the Oak Hills of the world), the boutique numbers are def bigger than that. And the delta with the banks is still pretty big.

Almost all decently looking girls these days seem to want men with fat paychecks so they can buy whatever they want off of him...at least this has been the sentiment with the chics I’ve talked too (and they’re very open about it). The classic term is “gold digger”. You’ll see some who even take it a step further and want the fat paycheck and a decent personality cuz it’s easier to control a guy like that so the chic gets money AND power.

Physical therapists and nurses are awesome from experience. Have dated a few medical student/residents, would highly advise against it in most cases. Very neurotic group to try to date/get serious with or even more shallow than guys (aka "I don't date guys who are less than 6 feet and do not have six pack" while they're 5'2" and have been single forever).

Artists, architects, designers…

I’ve found that people on the creative side tend to mesh better with the banking lifestyle. Not only will their conversation be wildly different from your workplace, but their schedules will be too.
