What percentage of people in banking drinks/smokes?
Genuinely curious about what percentage of people in banking drinks/smokes? What's the culture like and do people alienate you if you don't?

From my experience? ~50 smokers and about 150% drinkers. "How can it be over 100?" - because some people drink as if they're drinking for 2!

Only met handful of people who did not drink and it was solely for religious reasons.
What about health reasons?
personally never met one for that reason (in banking)
Id say around 2 percent of analysts smoked cigs, 30 percent juul, 50 percent occasional or frequent marijuana, and 90 percent drinking
what about cocaine?
If you're worried about whether you will fit in if you don't do these things, then the answer is yes as long as you aren't weird about it yourself. People might ask you once why you aren't drinking, but after that, they will understand that you are not comfortable doing that and people will respect it. There's always at least someone in the group who will not drink and people don't mind at all.
Just make sure you aren't being weird about it. For example, don't give off the impression that you feel different from others because you aren't drinking.
Pretty much everyone drinks - it's just kind of the culture with banking, but it's not like anyone would care if you don't
What's way more surprising to me is when I hear an analyst say they don't drink coffee... that's what's really absurd
