What Platforms Do Third Party Headhunters and/or Company Representatives Use to Reach Out To Candidates

I've heard much about people getting courted for PE, HF or larger IB firms during their Analyst years. However I've also heard a lot of people in the WSO threads suggest that generally when 3rd Party Recruiters reach out to you on LinkedIn, it's bullshit or for a position that's not very desirable.

My question is, what does getting recruited by a legit PE/HF/IB/REIT/REPE look like? Is it generally directly through a company representative or a headhunter? Is it via LinkedIn, work email, or something else? Do these headhunters normally court the analyst or should analysts be seeking out the right people to network with while he's working?

Basically what does a young & aspiring Yeet God need to do and what should he be on the lookout for when it comes to buy-side recruiting or other opportunities.

Any/All information is helpful. YEET!
