What should I do?

I was lucky enough to secure an internship in IB for SA 2022 back in April. Unfortunately, I failed a course and my GPA has fallen from 3.5 to 3.0. The offer letter explicitly states that my internship is contingent on me staying in "good academic standing". I'm not sure what happens next. They have not yet asked for a transcript, but I am sure it is coming soon. Should I contact HR and get in front of things? Am I going to lose my internship? I am not looking for sympathy, but actionable things to do as I know I have messed up. Thank you.

This has actually happened to me before and I wouldn't try and get in front of things just yet. If HR is going to ask for an updated transcript it will probably be right before you start your internship or during the onboarding process. If you can, try and repeat the course before you start and really grind your other courses to get your grades up. Repeating the course gives you a good "story" to tell to HR should they review your transcript and take issue with your grades. Tell them something along the lines of "I'm retaking the course because I know I can do better blah blah blah the final was much more difficult than anticipated blah blah blah mom dropped dead on my hamsters birthday" etc. Its really important that you ace your other courses so you can frame the failed course as a one off due to some extenuating circumstance. I wouldn't worry to much just yet but definitely start grinding academically.
