What tend to be the most common intern tasks, and how can you prep in advance for them?

Have heard its mostly busy work w stuff like getting some slides on a CIM or finding/screening buyers etc, and minimal modeling work. Modeling is easier to practice, but what are some ways to practice the other tasks I mentioned so I don't seem like a complete idiot when the internship starts? Or is it just normal to not know how to do these things w/o making mistakes initially

Had a lot of the same worries ahead of my SA. Just enjoy your time off before the internship. All the interns will show up at same level - they aren't evaluating how good you are at the job on day one. Be eager to learn, ask questions, and show interest in the people you work with. They want to see improvement over the 10 weeks and reason to believe that you can be an asset to the firm, how good you are at aligning shapes in PowerPoint on the first day has nothing to do with it. If someone is assigning an intern a task, it's because it's low stakes and likely not very time sensitive. They expect you to make mistakes and to be slow.

Don't pay for any courses or anything. Most firms provide summer training ahead of your start data that will bring you up to speed on a lot of these things if you really want to get a head start.
