What the f**k should I do guys?

So just a quick summary: Graduating this coming Fall '18 Finance/Accounting Non-target state school 3.5 gpa Currently doing a Spring Boutique IB internship Likely getting a PE internship this summer at a small firm

So with that in mind, I'm here for the same reason everyone else is, to get into the IB job of their dreams. My problem is that I'm graduating at the end of this year and got interested in IB later than I should have. I just got this internship for the Spring which I'm very grateful for, and luckily interviewed with a PE firm for a summer role (TBD if I get it), but am also going to speak with another PE firm. What do I do in terms of next steps? I really can't apply for an SA position for next summer since I'll be graduated, and I don't necessarily want to postpone graduation a whole year to say I'm still in school. On the other hand, I heard it's very hard if not impossible to get a FT at a MM or BB without that SA position. Although I'll probably have a summer role, what do I do in terms of going for FT position or even try an SA for net year?? Just any idea would be great.

Pro-Tip use a more detailed title. TBH I would recommend postponing graduation if that is a possibly for you. You should be networking like mofo right now to try and make connections at middle market and smaller firms that you can come back to for full time spots after your spring internship, PE summer, and final semester. If you get the PE shop place, and they offer you a FT role - I would take it. Coming from a non-target it will be difficult in the spot you describe.

Network network network.

I’m continuing to do so. I’m happy I could potentially have two internships of great experience, but getting into a B.B. just seems nearly impossible. What would you recommend saying in a LinkdIn message for example in order to start the conversation

i'd avoid linkedin messaging any one under under Associate 2 and use your alumni/past workers at your current firm / relationships at current firms / friends / family.

you're in a good position with your boutique internship, i'd lever than into an MM role next summer instead of working for that small PE firm.

my only advice in your messages is to be personable/funny. don't be generic.
