What time do you usually leave the office?
Group has bad face time culture and you cannot leave before midnight even if you’re done. Wondering what it’s like at other banks as old threads made it seem like it’s way better elsewhere

not beyond 4 or 5pm and lots of days at 2 or 3pm and wfh if needed
I leave around 4:15pm to go the gym and it's fine as long as I log back on at home later. WF is paradise.
how were your analyst hours like?
Would usually stay until 9 or 10pm when I was an analyst because I was trying to prove myself. The culture around staying late in my group was never that bad. Managers were always fine with people finishing work at home. 3rd year Associate now and I have a lot of flexibility.
How long do you leave?
like an hour and a half to workout and get home
Back when I was there corporate banking would stay way later than IB. IB would all be out by 3/4 and CB was forced to stay later because face time culture was heavy in CB for whatever reason.
I was asked if I was working part time when leaving at 1:30am so there's always worse
"Taking a half day today?"
This is acceptable only if you’re a Senior Intern in IB-M&A with at least 6 weeks of experience
6:30/7 so I can expense my dinner
This seems to be more and more common across the street
At my mid EB (Laz/Pwp/Moe) analysts and associates were expected 9am - 10pm with work continuing from home until 12/1am.
thats it? a puny 1am? did u guys have like 2 deals a year or what
MM - leave anywhere between 1am - 4am most days. No facetime culture but ya boy been getting torched
What city do u work in
This has Lincoln written all over it.
Cap as fuck man
Ah yes because I get a real kick out of lying to strangers anonymously on the internet... D*ckhead
It’s not uncommon at all. Surprised by some of the comments here
I was at Jefferies and left between 2-3am basically every day. Midnight on Friday
That’s cap as fuck.
Ok sorry your team has no dealflow and you can speak for my own experience. Can I borrow the crystal ball?
I’m on 3 live sell sides rn at an EB and leave office at 830, asleep by 12. If ur doing 2:30am routinely u suck at the job.
Except I was paid more than any other analyst in my office both years
Do you seriously think you can generalise your experience and extend it to everyone else? Good for you if your team allows you to finish early - I probably would have stayed longer
that’s not the case for most people and certainly not for me where I had Directors still in the office at 1am. And this is the experience of most of my friends across BBs / EBs / MMs etc. you should probably consider yourself lucky and stick around a bit more
Bobby B spotted
11 pm.
Asso 2 - I leave at 8:00pm every day and connect from home only if needed. I WFH every Friday even if my firm has a 5 day in the office policy
Found the MBA associate
Bottom bucket speed run
Rather be bottom bucket for 10 years than top bucket for 2 and burn out
somewhere between 6-7pm, log back in at home.
latest is around 11pm-12am if team is cranking
MM M&A Boutique in a Tier 2 City, but usually get off around 7pm and have most weekends free
Exactly me
Jefferies. I leave at 2am before grabbing a beer at the local bar next to office with the Tridelt chicks. (Bonus was below street btw)
Hahaha bro dude, right on, just get cranked into the ground by Rich Handjob and then blow that sub market bonus on the bottom 10% tridelt girls that graduated 8 years ago and are still at the bar at 2am cus still single and nobody will even take em home, just grind and blow the pay bro keep it up that is so frat
I and my fellow UBS colleagues leave at 4pm every day right after losing our mandate to Barclays. Bonus day is special because we grab Starbucks before coming in at 10am with the $25 gift cards we receive (top-bucket)
del
Idk which is more ridiculous, your username or the fact that you called CIBC PU&I elite (congrats on CIBC btw)
no such thing as CIBC PU&I chief.
The only elite group you are in is the Waffen SS, jewslayer1944
Leave anywhere between 6:30-7:30, but rarely log in from home. Almost no one is working after they leave.
Analyst years - 12-1am
Associate years - 9-11pm
VP+ years - 6-7pm
Do you log back on from home?
BB( JPM,MS,GS,UBS) Get in at 10am hungover pretend like im doing work for a couple hours. Open a pitch deck for a mandate we are never going to win. Leave at 5pm get drinks and dinner with mates talk about how great our pay is for how much work we put in. Also talk about how we are going to recruit for a MF even though have yet to work on a live deal and get any experience.
he’s def not CIBC. CIBC is EIT
11 pm on a good day.
Sure bud lol. Ur out by 7pm. Pls get more efficient at your work then
Jefferies
Was around 2-3am every day. When I left at 1am I always felt as if it was so early. Really fucked up. You don’t really how much it at affects you until you leave
At a sweaty EB group cranking sponsor sellsides and currently living this. Constant 2am - 4am nights means I’m living with a headache at all times unless I’m caffeinated.
Which office?
London
Sweaty team
Why is there such variance here? Seems like leaving shortly after dinner to continue at home is more common in London
Are these true numbers? I'm at MBB and a lot of these hours sound so chill lol
Should have done banking. No way you just done at 11pm on most days?! doesn't match what my IBD friends are pushing through even above analyst level.
