I'm from NYC and am starting to explore options for IB recruiting for SA '28. I've set up in-person coffee chats with some college alumni to begin the networking process. They're analysts and associates in IB and MF PE. What would you all recommend wearing to these chats? Thanks in advance.

See if you can get any intel from mutuals on the specific people you’re talking to. I personally would think someone doesn’t care enough about getting the job if they pulled up in a polo but could be fine with other A&As. I’d recommend business casual with a dress shirt/pants
Navy/Charcoal suit with no tie, you can ditch the jacket if its really hot outside but some coffee shops will be blasting AC so I'd bring it with you and just carry it in your arms. Anything less than that is risky, IB and PE tends to self-select for people who take their job extremely seriously so they'd expect you to dress appropriately.
Odds of someone taking offence to polos and khakis is low, but not impossible so I'd play it safe.
Given that I've never dressed as casually as polo and khakis a single day in banking or PE, I would be a little thrown off with dress that casual. And I generally dgaf what candidates wear. Agree suit no tie is the move
No polo and khakis - button down and slacks at minimum and suit with no tie at most
i'd probably just go naked honestly.
Dude everyones pranking you thats saying to wear a suit. If u wear a suit to a coffee chat thats insane and people will just think ur hardo

White plain collared shirt w blue dress slacks. Black shoes black belt or brown shoes black belt
White plain collared shirt w grey dress slacks. Black shoes black belt
Light blue collared shirt w grey dress slacks. Black shoes black belt
Don’t make it more complicated than it is. White shirt, dress pants, black belt, black oxfords - done and nothing can go wrong
