Different analysts at different groups are slowly starting to get the nod. That's the rumor. I have first hand confirmation that there was at least one Analyst on one of Suisse's better groups that's been told by his MD he will move to UBS with him.

It's a confusing mess for everyone but adding to the mayhem is that different MDs / Group Heads all have different levels of knowledge and the one's that have higher or more confidential knowledge want to pass it down but can't. My MD was super sincere when we spoke.

In the interim we're cranking out work like it's business as usual. If anything, people have been extra diligent because we all want a spot on the life boat. Everyone is quietly recruiting, but people are being tight-lipped with each other about who the plug is for recruiting / who is hiring. Not a good market for hiring obviously so there are limited spots in NYC that people who are friends from the same group now have to compete over. Plus everyone knows we're not in a position of strength which sucks. My work friend said he did an interview and the VP he was talking to was insinuating like "Oh so do you actually want to work at ____ Bank or are you just scrambling to find a plan B?"
