What's my next step to get an internship?
Just looking for a little bit of input on my chances of landing an IB or Finance summer analyst internship with a bulge bracket in any market.
Some facts: 3.65 GPA, working on Accounting degree at a top 10 school (top 3 accounting). Very little finance work experience (just a lowly loan assistant at a VERY small mortgage brokerage), but moderate sales and international experience. Pending internship application with GS for Salt Lake City, Chicago, and New York City. Furiously networking with LinkedIn and the few connections I have.
Problem is, I'm jumping into the fray late (I'm older than the average Junior) and I have very little personal networkign options. (just joined the IB Club at school). I've done lots of research and feel like I can do well in an interview if I get one.
I will be sending an application for an internship to basically all the bulge banks within the next week.
Whats my next step, how can I speed up my network, and in your opinion, what's my outlook?
Take a look at some MM IB's websites. Try cold e-mail some of their analysts and associates. You would be surprised how many are willing to help, even if they have no connection to you. Also, get the WSO networking guide.
Try leveraging your alumni network.. although BYU is not considered by anyone to be a top 10 school so I'm not sure where you got that from.
yea lol BYU .. top 10? lulz
Don't banks recruit out of BYU? I heard their career fairs is legit for a west cost school.
Sorry, meant top 20. Top 3 in accounting though. Some banks do recruit there. Goldman does.
Uhh buddy - reality check: BYU is ranked #71. Not even top 20, not even close.

I think it's a good school, but don't pull numbers out of your ass if they're way off...
