At what point in time should an individual pursuing a summer analyst position start to worry if they haven't gotten called for any interviews? I know that most banks are just wrapping up their FT positions but many are starting to look at Summer 2008 candidates. Any suggestions/advice?

summer analyst interviews start in January
I know many firms not just investment banks cut their budgets on of after 1/1 so they start shortly after. I would worry if mid april comes and you dont have an offer. I was heading into May my soph year before getting an offer from a place I was waitlisted. One of the guys decided to go to summer school and I was in.
Thanks for the input thus far. Do firms typically give some sort of notice of interest before formally inviting you to interview? I have had a few requests for more information, transcripts etc. but nothing that I would call substantial.
Have you been doing the online apps, or passing your resume through friends?
