Where can I find unpaid remote search fund internships?

I'm a rising freshman at a target school very interested in IB. This summer I have emailed ~20 HFs/PEs/whatever to no avail. I genuinely dont care abt pay as long as it is remote. How can I find this? Are there any known funds that take interns easily or smth?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some actionable steps to find unpaid remote search fund internships:

  1. Cold Emailing: Continue reaching out to search funds, private equity firms, and hedge funds. Personalize your emails to demonstrate genuine interest and research about the firm. Highlight your willingness to work unpaid and remotely, as this can appeal to smaller firms with limited budgets.

  2. WSO Finance Research Analyst Internship: Consider applying for the WSO Finance Research Analyst Internship. It’s remote, flexible, and allows you to build your CV while earning free courses. This could be a great stepping stone to gain experience and network within the industry.

  3. Networking: Leverage your school’s alumni network, LinkedIn, and finance-related student organizations. Reach out to alumni working in search funds or related fields and ask for advice or opportunities.

  4. Search Fund-Specific Platforms: Look for platforms or communities that cater to search funds. Some search funds are more open to taking on interns, especially if you show enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

  5. WSO Resources: Utilize WSO’s resources like the Resume Review and Mock Interviews to refine your application materials and interview skills. This can increase your chances of landing an internship.

  6. Persistence: Keep emailing and applying. It’s a numbers game, and persistence often pays off. Aim to send out more applications and follow up with firms that haven’t responded.

While there may not be a specific list of funds that "easily" take interns, smaller or newer search funds are often more open to unpaid remote interns. Keep your outreach targeted and professional, and don’t hesitate to use WSO’s tools and community for support.
