Many banks offer PWM internships for freshmen. If you're asking about investment banking internships, then unless you get lucky and have extreme drive, none.

Does anybody know of any banks or financial institutions that give internships to college freshmen (will be going to a top ten university and playing a sport, I know I'll have to get a good GPA and stuff)? Preferably one that pays or gives a housing/transportation stipend, but Im realistic and know that these will be rarer and pay would be small. I currently live in New England, and will be attending college in the Carolina's, so I guess preferably have an internship in NC or MA, but if boutiques in CA or IL or somewhere else pay I'd be open to that.
Few banks have freshmen interns, and none that I know of have freshmen intern programs. The fortunate few who do meaningful finance internships after freshmen year usually do so through some kind of connections.
To manage your expectations, you are probably looking at a low paying to unpaid internship or shadowing someone unless you can leverage some contacts in your network. Best advice I can think of is to be persistent!
yea keep in mind if an analyst sees you have a freshman internship, he will automatically assume it wasn't merit based but through some sort of connection. There is no reason why someone will pick up a freshman when there are tons of juniors looking for a chance.
Do any PWM internships pay then? I'm not looking to make bank, just a little to cover transportation or housing, but I guess the internship will lead to better opportunities and pay in the long run

Hardly any unless your calling in a favor. Try non-tranditional banks?
Wells Fargo and HSBC do
Pretty much any bank with a private wealth management division.

Alright thank you. I know some places have some internships for minorities but I'm not a minority so I guess it will be a bit tougher.

Alright thanks should I be looking at PWM then?
Thanks, and Duke
