Which forum is for quants here at WSO?
Which forum are for the prospective quants on here? I know it ain't ibanking, consulting, private equity, ER, VC, or Asset Management. Maybe Trading or Hedge Funds? I use QuantNet's forums but those guys are too serious.
Is there a quant section on WSO?
I'm talking about the guys who majored in Comp Sci/Engineering/Physics/Math who are applying to job titles like "High Frequency C++ Developer at Hedge Fund"
and job descriptions like
"A New York based financial firm is looking for an entry level developer with excellent C++ to join a quantitative trading team working with the equities trading desk.
This is a high frequency group developing real time systems in C++ using UNIX operating systems. Candidates must have excellent academic credentials and demonstrable expertise in C++. The successful candidate can be expected to be writing C++ code, maintaining the existing system, and developing new parts of the system used for high frequency, low-latency trading.
Only candidates with proven C++ skills in low-level systems development will be considered. Linux kernelling, TCP/IP, UDP, IPC, FIX protocol, Boost libraries, STL and networking are highly desired.
This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to grow their career in finance with an established yet growing firm. Please submit your resume if interested.

would it be in trading? I didn't think all quant programmers would be traders - what about the ones who come up with algorithms and not trade with company money?
Not really a forum of quants. The closest are quant related threads in the Trading and Asset Management forums, and a few discussions on MFE programs in Business School Barrage. That said, there are a few quants who post on these forums to discuss about the markets and the more "finance" part of quant finance, and to generally interact with non-quant people on the Street.
For quant related topics, check out: 1.) www.wilmott.com - for general quant finance talk, some technical discussions, and some good articles by recognized practitioners in the field. 2.) www.nuclearphynance.com - for some discussions on the technicals of quant finance 3.) www.quantnet.com - for quant finance educational programs (I personally don't like this forum though; extremely biased towards Baruch...haha).
people actually care about the different forums? maybe im just an addict and read every thread in every forum... though I assume many others on this site (you know who you are) do the same thing as me
You will feel right at home at Wilmott.

LIBOR - I do the same thing man. It's quite worrying when I'm reading threads in forums that I have no interest in.
