Which internship should I take?

As a sophomore, which internship would look best when applying for IB/S&T (haven't decided between the two, but leaning towards banking) come junior year:

Operations at a GS/MS/ML or a Finance internship with CS/DB/UBS?

I realize that both are back office, however I would guess the finance internship entails some financial analysis as opposed to grunt work/data checking in Ops. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the input, guys.

Does anyone have a differing opinion or alternative viewpoint? Will need to make a decision soon and would appreciate any advice given.

i don't have a differing opinion per say - but there is another factor you might want to consider. most of the BBs have something called internal mobility programs - GS definitely does. midway through the summer, top performers in all divisions (IBD, ops, tech, finance etc) are given a chance to apply to "internal mobility" - assuming you've been performing well in your respective function, you are then sent to what essentially amounts to an internal superday at all the divisions you are interested in. strong ops performers can def move via this process from ops to S&T or IBD. not a totally irrelevant factor.

Interesting point, srr636.

Would someone be able to confirm the likelihood of this happening? Any stories/experiences?

I was somewhat convinced on going Finance Div. but this is something I never considered previously...
