Which Oxbridge Master programmes offer strong placement opportunities in IB?

Many times I've seen Oxbridge being mentioned here a target school for IB/PE in London, but I'm trying to understand which specific programmes are targeted at the Master's level.

For Oxford, I understand it's Financial Economics but is there any other programme that gives  strong placement opportunities?

As for Cambridge, I went through their postgraduate programmes list and besides their pre-/post  experience Finance and MPhil Economics programmes, is there anything else that is targeted by IB? For example, Cambridge offers MPhil in Innovation, Strategy and Organisation which is business-related and I guess this might work well for CO, but would such a programme be competetive for IB as well?

My undergrad degree doesn't have a sufficient number of Finance/Economics courses so I'm automatically not eligible for programmes that require a specific undergrad degree like Finance/Economics at Cambridge.

TLDR; Which Oxbridge Master programmes offer strong placement opportunities in IB?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, both Oxford and Cambridge are indeed considered target schools for Investment Banking (IB) and Private Equity (PE) in London.

For Oxford, the MSc in Financial Economics is often highlighted as a strong program for those aiming for careers in IB or PE.

As for Cambridge, the MPhil in Finance is a popular choice. This is a one-year pre-experience program that requires a First Class, so you'd need to push your average up for that.

Both Cambridge and Oxford are known for being somewhat theoretical in their curriculum, but they offer really solid career prospects. They are also both much cheaper than their London counterparts.

However, it's important to note that the perception of your university, fair or not, largely determines where you get interviews. So, while these programs are well-regarded, your success in landing a job in IB or PE will also depend on other factors, such as your grades, networking skills, and interview performance.

As for the MPhil in Innovation, Strategy and Organisation at Cambridge, I don't have specific information on how well this program places in IB. However, it's generally true that business-related programs can provide a good foundation for a career in IB.

Remember, the most important thing is to choose a program that aligns with your interests and career goals. Good luck!

Overall at a MSc level I think your work experience will add more weight to your application vs undergrad. If you went to a non-target for undergrad, has no relevant experience (IB/PE/AM internships) I think is unlikely you will get BB/EB offers, but MM space still very much possible. If you went to a target and has relevant experience, you can read Geography for a MSc and still recruit well. Those are my two cents. Hope it helps.
