For those that have lateraled (but curious to hear other cases as well), did you receive your verbal offer from HR or a senior person on the actual team you'll be working with?

Think it can depend. Got a lateral offer not too long ago and it came from the group. HR followed up later
Group called me and gave the offer. HR contacted me like an hour later
