Why are Analysts Miserable
Whenever I talk to someone on the phone at whatever bank/fund, they sound completely normal and ALWAYS stress the importance of keeping a positive attitude/environment in the office since you're gonna work so many hours there. But whenever I go to my university's career fair (top EU target) most of them look/sound SO miserable and depressed. Feel like an idiot trying to smile. I know they're tired and stuff but I'd guess it would be a nice routine breaker? Maybe I shoud be like my hardo colleagues? Genuinely curious
Bc IB sucks
BC going to a career fair when you have another 8 hours of work afterwards turning comments is dreadful
Associates and VPs all look fine to me lol i get it
Life as an analyst just sucks. If you did an excellent error free job, congratulations, you did your job. If you mess anything up you get chewed out. It’s a difficult transition from college when getting a decent grade felt good. Now you need to give A+ every day and don’t hear any praise for it.
Do you have any suggestions so I can make these conversations less draining? I always try and ask about THEIR experience and not obvious stuff I can find on their website on my own...
IB is a job where perfection is the expectation. Definitely do keep the smile up tho
My VP is a cunt
Well that happens as they mostly hire people based on gender quotas, and a lot of them neither have the aptitude or competence to be there but $$$ strings them along
Rent free
Did I touch a nerve there. Guess another nepo female A&A spotted.
Facts
I hate my idiot associate
Perfection is the expectation, anything less is bottom bucket. You’re always on call so burnout is imminent. It’s really hard on your body and psych overall.
