Was with a pre-med for sometime and wasn’t drawn to medicine itself but rather someone intelligent, well-spoken, rational, ambitious. Medicine is a field where you need to have some genuine interest as well, to justify the schooling, so I appreciated someone who wanted to improve others’ lives. They were involved in some business orgs so they could talk about finance, understand my goals, and knew similar people which was great. But whereas dating within finance — especially within my college since our IB/S&T pool is small — will always in part feel like incest (lol), this drove conversations & memories to be outside of work. There’s no lingering “always networking” mode which has come with friends & casual dating in finance, and also just lets me learn about & support other parts of a very wide world without sacrificing qualities I prioritize.

That sounds so nice! Most of my friends have always been premed/med and it ends up working out really well because we can help each other out in with problem areas. Wonder if that’ll continue!

My gf is in medicine. Def think it is the ambition and drive. We each have our own ambitions and desires and they are complementary to each other, even if they are in different industries.

When I hear about her ambitions, I understand the intensity and drive. It's nice to hear about a certain long term goal, while not being directly involved in it (because I am in finance, and she is not).

Ha, I also thought I was unique but I guess this is a thing now.

Finance + Medicine = superpower couple
