Why would anyone bother to be an M&A/Corporate Lawyer?

Was taking a look at some top law firms and it made me wonder why anyone would choose to be an M&A lawyer instead of working in banking. Even WLRK, the top M&A law firm by revenue per lawyer is only 3.1 million. don't MDs at banks make that much in a year? are partners at top M&A law firms being paid nothing compared to MDs at banks?

someone please explain this to me

I deal with internal and external legal teams all the time. From our deals, the legal portion is actually quite fun. Most of our detailed negotiation happens during this step, our lawyers are young, passionate and experienced about various legal fields and I really enjoy working with them.

Those lawyers deal with the courts, new legislation we have never heard of, we can draw from their experience when it comes to the exact wording and they are our allies who look out for us if we miss something.

You need three people to survive anything - a good banker to look after your wealth, a good doctor to look after your health and a good lawyer to protect your rights.
