I got caught doing 96 in a 65, and the cop gave me reckless driving. Unbeknownst to me, the county I got pulled over in is the harshest in the state regarding traffic violations. My attorney said that if I am lucky, I will have a class one misdemeanor on my record -- unlucky, and I go to jail. Since I am currently a sophomore and will be recruiting soon, I am hoping someone could provide some input on how/if this will affect my IB chances.

Might come up on a background check, but they usually do background checks after you get an offer, not before. Once that deep, it’s unlikely a bank rescinds your offer due to a misdemeanor. A felony can be trickier, but likely still possible if you get it expunged etc.
Get new lawyer. I live in state with harshest traffic laws and did the exact same thing and received the same ticket. Bumped it down to a traffic violation since my lawyer was dope. Definitely celebrated that day
Agree with above, get the best lawyer you can - good use of $$$ to keep this off your record. Worth a consult with a second lawyer to see what they think / if possible to get lowered to a traffic violation so it doesn't follow you around. 96 in a 65 is really bad though, don't be driving that fast again.
Misdemeanors won't disqualify you, but they will have to be disclosed on the "have you been convicted of a crime" part of app which could potentially ding you at a few banks... other than that, they follow you around on your background check forever, and the background check companies will likely ask about it. It's not the end of the world at all, but spend the time and money now to try to get rid of it.
I had a Minor in Possession (caught with alcohol underage) and I was fine. If that helps ease yo ur nerves a bit.
Hey I've been convicted with a misdemeanor and charged with a felony (never convicted, it was dismissed) and i'm in IB, started this cycle as a first year. Arrest record still hasn't gotten expunged haha
