Will drug test follow background check test immediately??

Guys, I have 2 questions:

1. After you submit your background check form, does drug test follow immediately? If it does not, how long do people usually have to wait before hearing from your future employer again about drug test?

2. Also, I have submitted my background check form almost 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back anything. Is this something I need to worry about? Do companies usually tell you if you pass your background check or no? Or you just don't hear from them again?

I have no experience in this and am now trying to navigate through the process - any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I did not have to take a drug test, however, I also was not worried. The first background check was done through a temp agency and the recruiter called me back immediately letting me know I passed. When I was brought on full time I had to do the same test and they never mentioned whether I was good or not. They will let you know whether they bring you on or not.

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.

It means that as of now you are in the running. If it has been two weeks, ask HR if there has been an update. It is not unreasonable to do so.

Usually once you're done with the all the forms about previous work experiences, ect. The background check is the last thing. One company told me I had 48 hours to do once it is activated another company told me I had a month do it.

It does not take a long time assess a drug test. Usually they notify the company within 5 days. If you don't pass the drug test the company will let you know. I have done two drug test but never received any notification that I passed. Usually there is a background check portal and somewhere on it will will say background check complete once everything is done.

yeah they asked me to input all the past work info on a form and submit it in 3 days. I did that and then never heard anything from them since then....

Do people usually wait a month o 2 after their background check to do a drug test? Or they follow immediately? Cause if they do, I should be having mine right now but nothing to be heard from them..

From my experience if it is smaller firm they usually process the first part of the background check first then have you do a drug test once everything is verified (which may take sometime). If it is a large firm once you complete the first step the drug test instructions appear right away. That's just from what I have experience and may not apply to all firms.

Honestly, just be patient. Trust me if the found something bad on your records they would probably let you know right away. Also long as all the information you put into the first part is accurate you have nothing to worry about.

If it's for GS then you're supposed to get an email from HRworkways a couple weeks after they receive your signed letter and then have a drug screening 2 weeks after that. However, I have yet to receive me email from them 3 weeks after they got my letter so it seems to be a slow process.

Thanks for the info, this is for MS.
