Will I look like a complete tool
I interned at a top bank this summer and I got an offer. I have already accepted verbally, but I haven't signed a contract. I have talked to several people and I have told them that I am definitely going back. However, I just found out that a top boutique is interviewing on campus and I really want to give it a shot. Should I? Thanks in advance.
In addition, can you tell me what you know of the recruiting policies of Lazard/Greenhill Thanks a lot in advance!!!
Yeah you should give it a try; if you could make it into Lazard I would definitely go with them over the others.
if its like Goldman TMT/UBS LA/ MSM&A etc vs Lazard/Greenhill don't be stupid. If its a lesser group at a top 3 or 4 bank then do it.

no i don't work in a top bank. i work in a small boutique and thought that if i jump to a bigger boutique my chances of landing at a BB would be higher. thus my question for the jump. not to mention that the pay is better, even though the hours may be longer. but hey, u don't make $$$ without sacrificing something.
might as well give it a shot. It doesn't hurt to interview, then you can make a more informed decision later.
Working at a small boutique does not mean "less prestige" per se compared to BBs (Lazard & Greenhill), but if you believe you are less marketable because of your job there then I would recommend moving onward and upward. Define your career goals and decide for yourself.
What I would do, is tell them that you need some time to really evaluate their offer, since you don't want to rush into anything, after all you'll be dedicating a large portion of your time to the job.
Then during this time interview with the big firm.
Altho I sincerly doubt you'll be able to finish the interview process and get the rejection/acceptance letter in such a short time. Plus the other job won't be there for long.
Is there any chance that going back on your word will hurt your reputation?
basically if you go back on your commitment, you'll get blacklisted and never work for that bank again.
