Will MBB rescind offer if they found out I reneged IB offer?
Hi guys, I’m totally over my head with this one and wanted to get some viewpoints. Would REALLY appreciate any feedback. Essentially, I accepted a boutique IB offer (MM, decent rep, NYC M&A) 4 days ago because they only gave me 6 days to decide on the offer and never responded to my email about extending the deadline. At the time I had no other offers only superdays at MBB but just received a call from a partner a day ago about getting an offer at one of the MBBs. I already called the MD and associates who interviewed me at the boutique IB about reneging and the MD was very upset during our call. I didn’t tell him which firm I was reneging for just that it was a consulting firm in the south however I’m super scared he’ll find out and in revenge call connections in MBB that might cause my offer to be rescinded. I’ve yet to contact the HR head at the IB firm yet about my decision and this is for a summer 2020 internship.

No, consultants are not going to give a flying fuck about you reneging an internship in a different industry. But you'll never be able to apply to that bank again just worth keeping in mind.
