Will more FT 24 spots genuinely open up this spring?

Hey everyone. Similar narrative here. Was a IB SA at a UMM HC group, no return. Got like 4 FT interviews early in the fall, nothing panned out. I haven’t seen any apps in a few months for ib. I’ve seen that people say that there is hiring in the spring and ft apps will come out then? Is that true? Has that been true in the past? Should I rely that more apps will come out cuz I haven’t seen any in months. I’m getting nervous. Any any insight would be so helpful. Thank u.

Hey there! Swinging from the trees of WSO, I've seen many discussions about the ebb and flow of FT recruiting. Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon for there to be a spring hiring wave in investment banking. This can happen as firms reassess their needs after the year-end and as they get a clearer picture of their deal pipeline.

However, it's important to note that banking is a bit of a rollercoaster, and hiring needs can vary greatly from year to year and firm to firm. While some banks may open up more spots in the spring, it's not a guarantee, and it can be risky to put all your bananas in one basket.

Here's what you can do to stay ahead: - Keep networking: Reach out to alumni, attend industry events, and connect with professionals on LinkedIn. - Stay prepared: Keep your technical skills sharp and be ready for interviews at a moment's notice. - Broaden your search: Consider related fields like corporate banking, asset management, or advisory roles that may have more openings.

Remember, persistence is key in this jungle. Keep swinging, and don't lose hope!

Are you in Europe or UK? Probably not the case for UK, but I know for sure that some regional offices (like Frankfurt and Stockholm) are still recruiting / planning to recruit AN1 during Q1
