Will PE firms still recognize my Lev Fin exp?

Working in a DCM group that harbors the firms lev fin operations as well. I work in a group that exclusively originates and syndicates high yield bonds and bank debt (term b), but I'm officially a high yield DCM analyst. I love the job and may never leave, but will PE frown on this not truly being a lev fin group if I were to explore that option? Also, we are a generalist group and don't have specific coverage like BB lev fin groups do, is the lack of specialization looked down upon?

Thanks

I would say that it may be more difficult to break into some of the larger PE firms and MM firms with a history of hiring out of specific M&A and Lev Fin groups. That said, a large amount of my work revolves around financing execution and understanding how banks think and work to get deals done. If you find a firm where the associates will work a lot with the banks, your experience will be very valuable even if you don't work with high yield debt groups because you are doing smaller deals.
