I've heard NYU accepts many Baruch Honors students.
Yeah but they have SAT scores of 2000 and 2200. Mine is only 1600 or 1120/1600.
Christ, 480/800 on writing?
BTW, you can't enter Baruch honors as a transfer. It is only open to entering freshmen.
If you are performing well enough to be able to transfer into a target school, your grades are high enough to get you looked at. Just work hard and choose whichever path you would be happier going down, it probably won't have too much impact in the end.
Yes, and a 480 in CR and 650 in math.
So what school do you guys think is the best school, realistically.
Honestly Harv, your SAT scores are going to really hurt you when it comes time to apply for positions. You're really going to need to work extremely hard in college to make sure no one can question your intellectual ability.
If you were a company and I were selling you, I'd recommend a broad process and hope for a spike bid. Make sense? Wow I'm cheesy.
SAT scored dont mean much when applying for jobs.
I never even took the SAT. College GPA is much more important when trying to land interviews, but after that, the rest is up to you.
At this point just continue your education at Baruch. MBA programs dont give a shit where you went for undergrad.
Oh yeah, and very doubtful youre going to be able to "transfer" into a target school like some people are saying. Even if you had a 4.0 at Baruch the target schools will still look at your H.S. GPA and SAT scores, which will probably get you dinged.
Try Rutgers if you REALLY arent into Baruch. Otherwise, just work with what youve got.
go somewhere easy and then transfer.
i think if you get above a 3.7, you will have good chance at northeastern university its reputation is getting better every year, not a target, but i think its a more realistic situation
If your goal is to get into a top MBA, your undergrad does not count as much as you think. What important is though to get high GPA, which will get you a good job afterwards and a strong GMAT, which then will get you in a good MBA. The most important thing is W/E after all!!! You can sell yourself if you have good W/E and poor stats and others, but it never really works the other way around.
Just get some good grades.
Realize it's an uphill fight. a Great quote: "The past is the best indicator of your future"... you need to structurally change some shit and get on the right track. After highschool, you've obviously got alot of ingrained habits that need to be changed.
Best of luck dude, believe in yourself and fuck the rest.
of the colleges you listed i think binghampton is the best.
binghamton is your best bet.... lot of ny students go there if they dont get into ivys...
Northeastern sucks. Don't go there. It's in the ghetto and all the kids are dumb.
So most of you are saying Binghamton is my best bet if I want to get into a top MBA school?
I hear Binghamton is a good school, but their recruitment rate sucks for kids out of college! Is this true?
I know Baruch has a great recruitment rate. Largely because it's in the middle of the city.
Binghampton is a better school. But you will find more alumni from Baruch on the street. Get into the honors program, act smart, you'll be fine.
I know this post is old, but just in case other people browse through.
I was in Baruch CUNY Honors College. 1120/1600 SAT score will not get you in Baruch Honors college. The average SAT score in Baruch Honors College was 1300+/1600 (this was in 2002/2003)
anyways, I hated the program...
Yeah. The avg score is, but plenty of people have sub-par SAT scores in the MHC. For the record though, the people at Baruch are really lame. The people in the MHC are even lamer. And while the top 5% get front-office gigs, you really lose out on a college experience due to the social ineptness 99% of the school has (awkward intl students and bridge and tunnel trash).
It is worth noting though that for front-office finance Baruch is BY FAR your best choice. Binghampton is the best school academically, but not for recruiting. Fordham and Northeastern are arguably worse schools and will cost you a lot more.
In addition, Baruch is a TARGET for ALL JPMorgan positions sans Asset Management (not sure why). Both the IB and S&T recruit actively on campus via on-campus interviews, dinner "sell" events, workshops, etc. Bear Stearns also has Baruch as a target for s&t.
Lastly, while the Honors College doesn't place particularly well, the Wall Street Careers does and accounted for about 24 of the 30 (or so) front-office placements for 07 SA. Sample placements are below.
