you've basically ruined your life, nothing you can do now.

your DONE. your life is OVER before it had even started.

You've definitely blown your chances. 3.5 from Wharton is very uncompetitive, you'll be competing against Harvard 4.0's and fellow Whartonions with 3.8+.

I am lmao at the replies to this thread. In the off chance that this is a serious question, what matters more than your gpa is how you did in finance, accounting, and math classes. If you did mediocrely in those classes (not that 3.5 is poor, it's just obviously not as competitive as a 3.8) then it'll be a bit harder to land an interview, but I imagine that if you perform better in the interview than the kid with the 3.8, you might get the job.

Wall Street leaders now understand that they made a mistake, one born of their innocent and trusting nature. They trusted ordinary Americans to behave more responsibly than they themselves ever would, and these ordinary Americans betrayed their trust.

wharton2013Will having only a 3.5 gpa after my first semester at Wharton kill my chances of getting a top gig? Also, how hard is it to improve the gpa, considering wharton is tough?

...hope you have an affinity for...gulp...operations

3.8-3.9 is unnecessary. I got great interviews with a sub-3.5 GPA (most BBs). Network as much as possible with everyone. Even if you don't get it for a job, speaking with them will allow to build up your jargon and how to present yourself. More importantly do stuff outside of academics that will show you enjoy finance/markets and display initiative. You will be fine.

With a crappie GPA it seems that you options are extremely limited, but do not give up. Some quick thinking and decisive action can save you from becoming a total failure at life. You should give some thought to withdrawing from school and joining the circus. The plusses to the circus are the leadership experience and the exposures to other cultures. Both of which will make great essays when you apply to MBA programs. Additionally, there are no grades in the circus, so your GPA problems would melt away.
