A 2nd internship or school?
My friend has an internship with a BB in the bag for the summer but he just got an offer for a 10 week internship in the spring with a marketing consulting firm (where I am going next year actually). Is it better to take that 2nd internship or is it not even worth it to miss out on school and drop everything? I'm not sure what advice to give him, it's a little bit of a conflict of interest for me since I'm still "on hold" from 2008 FT recruiting with a BB and working at that marketing company
I saw too many people without offers in 2008
What would be the point of the marketing consulting internship if he already secured a BB internship? Clearly he wants to do finance right?
Why get behind in school?
Yeah, it doesn't make sense for him to do the internship. It could be good if he is uncertain about going into IB...but if he already has a BB he seems like he is set.
He definitly wants finance but I told him to take the 2nd internship because what if he doesn't come out with an offer in BB? I'm not sure what tosay..
What if he doesn't come out with an offer from the marketing firm? So let me get this straight, you told your buddy to take a marketing internship over a BB internship b/c you're worried about him not getting a FT offer?
Whose interests are you looking out for?
Either I'm completely misunderstanding your post (possible b/c it is confusing) or you're giving your friend some awful advice (esp if he wants to go into finance).
I think OP is referring to the marketing internship being in the spring semester.
If he needs the money or whatever, sure take the internship. I just don't see it making him anymore marginally attractive as a banking candidate...
