Academic Suspension Impact on IB Recruiting

Hi Everyone,

I am currently a junior at a top target school in the midwest. I currently have a 3.6 GPA and have a summer offer for a decent Middle Market Boutique Bank. Recently, I was suspended for one academic year for academic dishonesty on a test (active until next winter). The details for this are irrelevant, but essentially, I was dealing with tremendous family problems and had a bad semester altogether. Furthermore, as a result of this, I will not be graduated in time to even accept a potential return offer or recruit for full time next fall. I have a few questions regarding my future moving forward.

Do academic suspensions show up on typical background checks?

How does such a gap in my timeline impact IB recruiting prospects? It will state that I was "held from enrollment from date to date" on my transcript. Would this immediately raise a significant flag in applications? Since this is quite vague, I assume that I could make up a reason. However, how much would recruiters even pry at it?

How will this one-time academic suspension during COVID affect admission into MBA programs a few years down the line? I know that it is taken seriously and will lower chances; however, will it instantly make me ineligible to most grad programs?
