Advice for current sophomores on if their internships are competitive enough for junior SA 2023 IB recruitment?

Hi,

How much does sophomore internship matter for IB junior SA recruitment? This is for my friends and myself we're all from a target (H/Y/P/W) similar ECs and grades but we all got different types of summer internships:

Student 1:

  • Freshman summer: internship @ local PE firm
  • Sophomore: internship @ BB (interested in going to another BB for junior summer for a specific group)

Student 2:

  • Freshman: internship @ B4 (tech consulting-focused)
  • Sophomore: internship @ B4 (m&a-focused)

Student 3:

  • Freshman: CS research in ML, did some algo trading stuff as side project
  • Sophomore: SWE internship @ FAANG (hopefully but if not, SWE at a different company or CS research again)

Do students 2 & 3 have a chance in recruiting for IB? Thanks
