Anyone have success with backchanneljobs or hiringcafe etc?

Now that places like Indeed and LinkedIn etc have literally hundreds if not thousands of applicants for real roles, I am starting to look for alternatives. After doing my due diligence and talking with people, going to seminars etc I have been told that LinkedIn and Indeed are basically a waste and to solely be looking for roles through backchanneljobs and hiringcafe.

Question is, if you have had any luck in finding something, what site did you use?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, LinkedIn and Indeed are still widely used platforms for job searching, but their effectiveness can vary depending on your approach and the industry. While some users report success with these platforms, others suggest that blind applications often yield low response rates, especially for competitive roles in finance or real estate. Networking and leveraging niche platforms or direct connections often prove more effective.

For alternatives, Talent Oasis (a WSO resource) and direct job boards on banks' websites are recommended for more targeted searches. Additionally, backchannel networking—reaching out to mid-level professionals for coffee chats or informational interviews—has been highlighted as a highly effective strategy. Platforms like SelectLeaders for real estate roles or specialized recruiting firms can also be worth exploring, though opinions on recruiters vary.

If you're considering platforms like Backchanneljobs or HiringCafe, there isn't specific feedback on these in the WSO dataset, but experimenting with niche platforms while maintaining a strong networking strategy could complement your search effectively.
