Applying for other FT programs after receiving a return offer

Hi All,

I just wanted to ask whether it is normal to apply to FT programs after receiving a return offer.

Let's say someone got a return offer from mid-tier (think CS, Citi, Bofa); is it normal for them to apply for FT programs for top-tier (GS JPM MS)?

I mean what would you guys do under a situation like this? I feel like your first job really matters, and if you have the opportunity to apply for more companies...why not?

It will be great to hear your opinions on this!

unless you accepted in writing there is no real issue but if you did accept you are potentially burning bridges. i would say that most firms are uncoordinated and it wont matter either way. many people tend to overthink or overstate their value to a bank. they dont really care at the end of the day! you are a smart kid with brain that can help generate fees, besides is cant hurt to recruit but banks will ask if you got a return offer so you have to determine your answer to that Q in advance. never lie or get caught in one.
