Applying to diversity programs as a white male?
Title just about says it all. I go to a target, have an excellent GPA, excellent SAT and I am a varsity athlete. As a freshman, however, most of the major banking internships are diversity focused.
As a straight white male, how is applying for these programs viewed by the sponsoring companies?
How well do you dress? Do you like chick flicks? Do girls come to you for emotional support?.If you said yes to these three, you can temporarily renounce your heterosexuality and then apply.
Otherwise just network and see if you can intern at a boutique.
Seriously, you can't play gay for 10-12 weeks? It's not like their going to test you. What, kissing test? Circle-jerk invite? Personally I think diversity sponsorships are a joke (as I think the best candidate should win regardless of race, gender, or sexuality), but if you think you have to go so far to get ahead in your future career opportunities that you want to lie to get into this program, by all means try it. Besides, you may find you actually ARE gay, in which case it's a win-win for you.
