Applying to Hong Kong IBD as a US Citizen

I'm a rising sophomore at a US target hoping to work in HK/Asia IBD after graduation. I'm a US citizen, so not an APAC national, but I have deep ties to the region. Does anyone have experience in applying to IBD roles in Hong Kong as a US national? Is the timeline similar to SA recruiting in the US, and what are the most important things to pay attention to when recruiting?

Timeline is behind US application cycle. Usually kicks off around mid-late Sophomore summer. Networking is not as important for APAC. Expect interviews to be more technical in nature. For certain seats, Mandarin proficiency will be highly advantageous.
