Applying to investing roles off LinkedIn

Applying to buyside roles via LinkedIn is pretty much a low-probability game.

Those postings get flooded with applicants within hours, and most serious funds don’t really hire that way, they already have pipelines via headhunters, referrals or direct outreach.

If you want to improve your odds, do the following instead:

• Set up job alerts directly on company career pages (e.g., Blackstone, KKR, Partners Group, etc.)
• Apply as early as possible when roles go live (timing matters a lot)
• Combine it with targeted networking (analysts/associates on the team)
• Don’t rely on LinkedIn “Easy Apply”, it’s basically a CV black hole
