Applying to Multiple roles at one IB

Recently had an interview for a capital markets team that went well, but was asked if I applied anywhere else within that bank. I had to tell the truth, and say I had an M&A interview earlier from which I got axed. Does this look bad?

I've also applied to the global markets and trading roles within that one same bank. Can HR/Recruiters/Analyst tell ? I know it looks bad to be applying to seemingly unrelated roles. Looks desperate. However, trying to hedge my bets.
