Certifications are definitely becoming more relevant, but they’re not replacing degrees, they’re more of a boost than a substitute.
From what I’ve seen, they’re most useful if you’re trying to switch fields or quickly build practical skills. For example, people moving into tech or consulting often use cloud, data, or AI certifications to show hands-on capability, even without a traditional background.
