Are members' clubs a must to succeed in IB in London?

This analyst on my team (IB) wouldn't shut up about the 2 members' clubs he got into. He seems like an old money guy, too. Coming from a humble background, I didn't even know what these clubs were. Are they a must to get into? Do I also need to get into one to do well in the future?

Bump - curious too and the circles in these clubs. Which ones are the best for juniors in london too?

^100% this. Plus if he was bragging about it then he isn't really old money.

That said, the ones that IMO are worth joining are the RAC (squash courts in St James' and a country clubhouse plus good socials), O&C (because many are already eligible through their Uni) and the Hurlingham (excellent W London sports facilities). But I wouldn't expect to be doing much networking in any of these - in the more traditional clubs such as Brooks' and White's, any talk of business is banned (I got thrown out of one once for taking out a pitchbook).

I think OP (and the dude bragging) might be referring to Social clubs moreso than Sports clubs. (i.e Annabel's, Soho House, the Arts Club, The Ned etc.) where I think business is very much discussed haha
