Are there any South Africans here?

The recruitment process and system is slightly different here - no real superdays, differently focused and networking is much more subtle. Would really like to discuss it with someone from my neck of the woods.

Howsit, I am currently studying in South Africa and completing an MComm by Dissertation at UCT by June 2017. Are you done studying or doing any internships with the banks over the summer?

Hi. Doing an LLM Banking and Finance coursework to be completed by next year June as well. Interning at a commercial bank during the holiday. I'm hoping to land a gig in corporate banking (might have a decent shot at Standard Chartered especially) but doubt my chances are that good overall (given the emphasis banks seem to place on commerce and accounting degrees here - you should be sitting good, boet). My best option would be looking for a BO compliance gig, I guess.

Are you working concurrently?

I am currently working on a dissertation only MComm in Finance which I am looking to complete by next year June. It is holding me back from applying for jobs though I could still work and complete it concurrently. I am also not from SA originally thus entering the job market here has been a mission. I am waiting my Permanent Residency outcome though
