This may be a no brainer but I wanted to ask for people's opinion before getting into an awkward situation. After finishing an internship at a buyside shop, an MD decided to refer me to his contacts at BB IBs by sending in my resume. I haven't heard back from these contacts (most likely due to their seniority/being busy). That being said, would it be asking too much to ask the MD for direct emails so that I can be more proactive in maintaining these potential relationships?
I feel like I might be putting the MD in an awkward position if I did this but then again, what is there to lose by asking?
I wouldn't do this. Would be seen as inconsiderate/impatient, especially after he said that he would contact them himself. These are his maintained relationships, not yours.
What you could do if his contacts are in NY and you're somewhere else, is tell your old boss that you'll be in the city on xx date and if he could see if one of his connects would like to meet for coffee/etc. That would be reasonable and effective.

What do you mean it is not the time for non-target applicants? Are you referring to SAs or FTs?
I think he's talking more about non-core / core candidates. I am a non-target by the way. When does the process for non-core start anyways?
If you get a direct contact for a position that is hiring, would you guys suggest to send your resume to that direct contact or is that too aggressive?
