junior2012what if its a small firm with no hr?

Then disregard what I said aha

If I knew someone at the firm I would ask them first if they had an idea from past interns etc.

If not there aren't too many options and if you want to know, I would probably just ask directly IF it is paid, not WHAT you will be getting paid. Not sure if you are going to accept either way/car about the money. If you don't care, he will answer and that will be that. If you do care and the answer isn't favorable, that opens up a whole different scenario.

I would ask them directly. Unless you are into International Development internship most of the internship would explicitly state if the internship pays you? Internship pay could be based on hourly rate, monthly pay or a success fee, whatever the pay structure there is nothing wrong in asking "Do we have a direct or indirect compensation for this internship"

Do not ask if it is paid or unpaid. All that information is in the offer letter.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."
