Background Check - Past internship office no longer exists

Hey guys,

I know that as part of background checks, most firms will ask for the HR email addresses from previous internships. One of my previous internships was at a boutique's regional office that is now closed.

Although I can provide the HR email address from a different office at this boutique, should I mention that we were laid off? Whats the best approach when dealing with these cases? This is a background check for a FT position, not sure if mentioning about the layoff can make them rescind the offer or something

Many thanks in advance,
