BB Internal Mobility - Quit or wait for 18 months?
I have been a new AM analyst in BB for 5 months, I don’t like my current job (most of the time doing sales work) and want to pursue internal mobility to IB. My past internship is all IB related. I noticed that there is a job opening in IB in the same firm and guess I could be a good fit...
However, I noticed the firm requires us to have a minimum of 18 months in the current job before seeking internal mobility. Should I wait for 18 months, or quit the job and recruit for the IB position in the same firm again (is it possible to recruit again?)?
Much appreciated it if you could kindly give me some advice!
Might be worth reaching out to someone with some pull that you have a relationship with in IB (i.e., MD/VP). They could help pull some strings. Could also reach out to HR, however, might be a long shot given they're probably more "by the book"..
Might be hard given company rules but you can always recruit at other banks
You want to quit your job and then apply to an IB position at the same firm you just quit at to circumvent their 18 month policy?
Yes.
You should do this.
