BB SA Offer: ER VS. S&T

I'm in a fortunate situation to be choosing between two offers and I would love some input:

1. ER (GS/JPM/MS)
2. S&T (Barcap/CS/DB)

I really like the people at both places: the ER team is easier to approach, very nice and I feel like I would be working in a more collaborative environment during the ten weeks. But at the same time, the energy on the trading floor is incredibly attractive to me and I feel like I would be pushed to my limits on a more constant basis there.

I definitely hope to land the FT offer after the internship and honestly, I could see myself being very happy and learning a lot at both places, albeit in different ways.

The last thing I'm slightly concerned about is the reputation of the bank and how far the "brand name" will carry me should I ever choose to go to grad school, lateral to a different bank or work in another industry.

Thanks a lot!

I can honestly see myself doing both...but what are the odds of doing the other one if I take an internship in one for this summer and realize it's just not the right fit? For example, S&T SA --> ER FT, or vice versa?

Do you know what analyst/team you will be working under in ER? A couple of things to consider: - JPM has a much better ER franchise than GS/MS and I would argue that the whole JPM/GS/MS top tier bucketing doesn't really apply for research like it does for IBD. There are banks that just don't give shit about research and from what I heard GS is not a good place for sell-side ER. - Your chances of getting a return/FT offer in research may be much lower than S&T as the hiring process is less structured and the headcount situation can change quickly. ER runs very lean and costs are constantly a concern.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.
