Big career decision advice PLS HELP

Hi guys, asking for a friend. Basically, my friend is a green card holder but is also a Singaporean citizen. By going to Singapore to complete his national service, he risks losing his green card for staying overseas for too long. He is not willing to take this risk. If he becomes a felon in Singapore, what impact will this have on his finance career? (Overseas travel to Singapore would not be possible/would he have to declare felony in other countries during the job recruitment process for some firms?) thoughts? Would defaulting on his service yield any downsides in his career/for recruiting?
