Boss asked me if I was interviewing elsewhere ... how to reply?

was at the pantry today and my boss randomly asked if I was interviewing. I didn't know how to react and said "why did you ask". She said staff attrition had been on the rise so she wanted to know if it would be an issue for me. I told her no.

But in truth, I am have been recruiting like crazy on the side.

How would you have responded?

You did just right. Employers love transparency when it favors them, but don’t view it the same way when it doesn’t. Keeping doing your recruiting and leave when you have found what you’re looking for. You owe no loyalty to them.

I've been doing this to one of our directors and forcing a legitimate conversation. Depending on how they approach it, it helps me gauge, how far up their ass their head is. Make sure to keep it professional and be willing to hear their response. Don't be a jerk.

Do not tell - when I was recruiting for my current job, I told nobody at my old place. They suspected something was up as I began eating lunch out when I typically ate at my desk, but nobody brought it up until after I put my two weeks in.

I’m close with one of my former colleagues and didn’t even tell him I was looking to move - there’s no benefit
