Brainteasers in Sales?
I´m going for a career in institutional sales after I finish my masters. I have been reading a lot of interview guides for sales and trading, but wanted to get some clarification on the difference in interview questions for a role in sales vs. a role in trading.
Just your input. How much emphasis is on the brainteasers and probability when I will be interviewing for an analyst position in sales? I know that for trading it is very heavy. Are the interviews for the two positions the same or simular?
Other then behavioral, market and perhaps some questions on bonds/derivatives/swaps, what will be the biggest challenge?
Most sales people I've encountered, and I'm on the buy-side, are neanderthals, and the notion of one of those guys asking me a brain-teaser is bordering on hysterical.
More seriously - I wouldn't count on it. More important is that you dress to impress and be super-polished in your speech and the way you carry yourself. That's about it.
