Breaking into IBD (NY) with ~3.6 GPA

Sophomore at a top 25 school with ~3.6/4.0 gpa. Leadership positions in multiple (2-3) investment/finance clubs, as well as 3 internships (1 at a small tech startup, 1 during the school year doing MM IB, and 1 upcoming at a respectable MM boutique IB firm for this summer).

Assuming the appropriate networking obligations are met, do i stand a chance at the top EBs (Evercore, Moelis, Lazard, PJT, GHL)? I've been told it would be smarter to focus my efforts only on the BBs and top MMs (HL, Jefferies, Blair). Or I guess, what firms would be the best to target?

I will still be applying to everything, but I ask only so that I may better know how to allocate my time and energy in terms of what firms to heavily network with and push for in the hopes of gaining a IBD junior SA position in NY.

Landed a top EB and two top BB offers with a 3.4. It’s possible but difficult.

End of thread, stop asking and get started.
