Buyside ER to Sellside ER (no undergrad degree)
Currently working in the Fixed Income team at a large AM firm in the UK with around 250 billion AUM. My current role sits between the sales and research team. It’s a niche role where we sit in on all the research meetings understand the strategy in depth and communicate it to clients (essentially the ‘technical’ sales guys. I don’t have a BSc degree but have the opportunity to move to the equities research team at my firm. Thinking about going to sellside ER from there to allow me to pivot into an IB role within the same bank. I can study a MSc Finance from Bayes (I know it’s not target but experience>education right?) and was wondering how that would place me for recruiting in Sellside ER for off cycle internships or even graduate programs in the UK. I know not having a bachelors might raise a few eyebrows but I’m assuming having a masters would supercede the requirement for a bachelors degree? Was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the above any insight for the UK market specifically would be much appreciated.
Why do you want to go from buyside ER to IB
